Mommie’s Time Out-INDULGE

I recently found a new addiction the “Crumbnut”, which is Crumbs Bake Shop’s take on the craved Cronut created by Chef Dominique Ansel right here in NYC. Unfortunately, I do not have the time to wait in line for hours on end to enjoy one of these delectable treats. So I opted for the Crumbnut which is the same concept. And I am not disappointed! I practically inhaled the darn thing! I know very unladylike (thankfully I was alone)! lol. Better to not eat around the kids so you don’t need to share! ha ha!

photo 2

The Crumbnut is part donut and part croissant, Shaped like donut with a flaky croissant dough like consistency. Crumbs has a variety cinnamon sugar (my favorite), Bavarian cream, chocolate filled, and a new apple pie filled!

So go ahead INDULGE! You deserve it!

Not available at all Crumbs locations.

Currently all NYC Crumbs carry Crumbnuts.

Mommie’s Time Out- City Chemist NYC

This week my time out was AHHH-mazing! I had the opportunity to visit City Chemist “Brooklyn’s Best of Beauty” located in Brooklyn Heights on the corner of  Montague and Henry Street.  I received a eyebrow shaping by Megan (which I highly recommend), and I left with a goody bag just for me! Of course I did pick up a few extra goodies I just could not resist! 😉

Thank Mommy Tips by Cole for the heads up!

Happy Halloween!

Well I hope y’all had a very happy Halloween filled with load of yummy candy!!!

Holding tight to his first piece of candy

This year is my little monkey’s first REAL Halloween, and it was a great one. The hubby had to unfortunately work today so it was just little man trick or treating. We decided to go to the Chelsea neighborhood by  Clement Clarke Moore Park as suggested by Red Tricycle. The brownstones were decorated to the tee! Cobwebs and fog machines, the decorations were frightfully fun.

This brownstone was decked out!

My little trick or treater dressed up as (in my opinion) the most adorable monkey you ever did see. Not only does my baby boy had a little belly already, his costume had a little plush belly. It was adorable!

I can’t get over the plush belly. ha ha

The first piece of candy he was given was from a doorman who told him to take any piece he wanted. Baby boy went for the Reese’s, and was so excited about his candy he wanted to stop on the next stoop and eat it. Before he could get it open, he noticed all the excitement happening further down. As we went down the block, collecting more candy (still holding on to his precious Reese’s) he wanted to stop and eat each piece. Being that he has a Rice allergy, we have to be very careful reading each and every label… in the mean time I was able to distract him with lollies I brought with me until I can go through each piece of candy.

It was extremely crowded, thankfully we didn’t bring the stroller we had our go to baby carrier the Ergo. If you plan on trick or treating next year in the Chelsea neighborhood I recommend not bringing a stroller if possible. Their were a few parents who did opt for the stroller and in my opinion they seemed a little frustrated trying to navigate through. But I would go again. Great experience!

Happy Halloween from my little monkey and I

Here in NYC their are a number of local businesses/ dentist buying back your child’s candy. Simply bring in your loot and in exchange they will give you cash per pound, and some may even give you up to $5 a pound! Most have a limit and there are specific times and deadlines so be sure to check out Red Tricycle’s  list for every borough here.

One house was handing out shoe strings and bouncy balls, another pretzels. What non candy item did your child receive this year?

Mommie’s Time Out!

Lets face it being a mommie leaves us very little “me” time. I never realized how much mess my pint size toddler could make, and the places where they manage to hide their snacks. ha ha Not to mention I can not tell you the last time I managed to go to the bathroom in peace. I now have a full time cheerleader to clap and cheer me on (thanks to potty training he likes to clap for mom and dad too!) Let me just tell you I have more respect for my mother every day! Raising four children must have been exhausting. Sorry Mom for all the headache we caused you haha! Don’t get me wrong I truly enjoy every minute of being a mommie! Yes, including going a full day without realizing I have my shirt on inside out, or peanut butter smeared on my face. ha

As I was saying we rarely get any time just to be by ourselves. Now as much as I would love a spa day… I know that a weekly trip is just not in the books for this mommie so… in the mean time the peanut butter that baby boy manages to smear on my face will have to suffice as my weekly facial. lol

Since moving to NYC I have been able to spend more time with my Mother in Law who is always telling me “you need to take time for yourself, if you don’t take care of YOU then you will not be able to take care of those that need you” This is very true. Whether it is taking five minutes to enjoy a cup of coffee, or going for a walk alone, buying a little something for yourself, even a craft project… doing what makes YOU relax and take time for yourself. EVERYONE needs a weekly Mommie’s Time Out!

I have decided that each week I am going to make a point to have “Mommie’s Time Out”. Please join me each Friday afternoon right here as I fill you in on what I did in time out!

Mommie’s Time Out- Coffee & Mani

This weeks Mommie’s Time Out included a at home manicure with ESSIE Sand Tropez polish and a delicious cup of coffee, while sweet pea had a glorious long nap!!! I am obsessed with ESSIE nail polish!!!! And this is my go to neutral color. I am constantly washing my hands and eventually my polish chips… One reason I adore this color is when it does chips, you can hardly tell because the color blends so well with your nails. I would say my time out was not so bad 😉

Best Sippy Cup EVER! -Tommee Tippee

Like most parents I too want to keep messes and spills to a minimum. I have struggled to find a SPILL PROOF LEAK PROOF sippy cup… However, I have finally found the BEST cup. I can testify that it is indeed completely spill and leak proof. Sweet pea has been pretty rough with his cup and it is 100% leak proof! Tommee Tippee Explora “Truly Spill Proof Drinking 9oz Cup” comes in a set of two and available in a variety of designs for either girls or boys. The size is perfect for your toddler, and the design is much like an adult tumbler.

Not to mention this cup is very easy to clean which is a major plus! Two simple pieces that insure easy flow and zero spills or leaks.
